    HARRY POTTER! ๐Ÿ˜€

Kobenhavn looks like Mainstreet at Disneyland during Christmas…
& your picture with Aslan reminds me of that one scene in Outnumbered and I enjoyed seeing the consumption of the Megapancake.

I visited a very cool looking one in Valencia, Spain. We have pictures. But now that I know this is a request, I will snap pictures of all the cool ones we pass (there’s lots). also, I am starting to take pictures of the food starting today. I’m working on updating my food log too – I have been keeping track to myself but just not posting.

Meera took us to a christkindlmarket in chicago. it smelled so yummy! it was colder at night, so we also went back during the day. thankfully it didn’t snow while we were there. hope you’re staying warm!

If you get a chance in Rome, for a real European experience, head out to the Stadio Olimpico, for a Roma or Lazio football game. You can get tickets for โ‚ฌ17 each in a pretty good spot, and you won’t experience anything else like it!

Also, there’s some really big church that I hear is pretty impressive… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hope you’re both still having fun!

Yay Rome! ๐Ÿ™‚ I loved it there and looks like you are enjoying yourself as well. Have you been having gelato?? There is this place called Giolliti’s (terrible service) but their fruit flavors are to die for. There might be better smaller places but that place is world famous and really close to the Parthenon. I remember walking into this little church with awesome wall paintings where there were just nuns inside praying. I can’t remember the name though but maybe you will come upon it randomly. Also look up the Scala Santa … the feeling there was EPIC. But that is just me. I think we had to take the bus to get there and our hotel was near the Parthenon. Ok well that is just information overload. I’m glad you are doing well! SIB!

perhaps those artifacts in the Vatican are of biblical significance? if i remember correctly, egypt, assyria and babylon were all enemies of the jews… or had some kind of connection with them. maybe the vatican collecting those things is a nod in their direction for the role they played in the formation of christian faith.

Inspiring! Sounds like the bar was also a place to practice awareness of the equal quality of the universe.

so true Dave! Seriously, every time I find myself faced with ‘obstacles’ on this trip, things end up working out better than I had imagined. Just depends on the perspective

It appears that the Thoughtful Travelers have enjoyed thoroughly their stay in the foot hills of Shivalik. Haridwar-Rishikesh is in the Shivalik range of Himalayas and it is also known as the gateway to the four pilgrims of Uttarakhand. Janak , plan your next (third) trip to Haridwar to explore four gorgeous pilgrims in the Himalayas, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. And I will surely join you ๏Š I know how much you have enjoyed the beautiful evening aarti with hundreds of diyas (lamps) and marigold floating in River Ganges . So, rejuvenated by the water of Ganges the travelers are now on their way to Devprayag, at the confluence of River Bhagirathi (Ganges) and Alakananda. Enjoy and get enchanted ! Love… Mashi.

    Hi Dadu,

Your visit to Hridwar, Risikesh and the adjoining areas of the Holi land in Himalayas, tempted me to write some thing in the matter. Perhaps you are aware of the meaning of the word Hari, which means God and the word โ€˜dwarโ€™ the other part in the word signifies door, thus it denotes the door towards the land of God. Rishikesh is the name of Narayan (Lord Krishna) and it is the abode of Lord Krishna. As you pass Haridwar and Risikesh the areas up to Mount Everest, Kailash. Manas โ€“Saravar up to Rudra Prayag the areas are dominated by Lord Mahadev (Shiva) and DevaPrayag is the place, the assembly of God and the Divine souls at this Holi Place. The Yogis in India had chosen these places for their meditation, salvation and liberation of their souls from this bondage and thus Babaji had selected his โ€˜ Hermitageโ€™ in this solitude. The Yogis used to consider each life is a bondage and confinement in the body. The people living in wealth and happiness means their confinement in a cage made of gold, where in those who lives in pain and sufferings means they are living in a prison cell with iron chain.
โ€œThe human soul is a part of the Absolute, imprisoned with in body. It regains its sources when it is freed from the flesh. While all existence display some attribute of Absolute Reality, the human being is the microcosm in which all the attributes are united. The Absolute becomes conscious of itself in man. God and man become one in the perfect man, the prophet man, the prophet or saint who is the final cause of creationโ€
Those Yogis feel โ€œThe Absolute Reality with whom the soul seeks to be united is above and beyond all that is infinite and concrete. To ascribe any qualities to Him is to limit Him. We can perceive the oneness and wholeness of Infinite Being by eliminating all that is finite. We can only say, not this, not thisโ€
I am told that you have practiced long meditation there and it is a practice to develop a single-minded concentration on the Supreme and in doing so you need to be still and to cease from the struggle in the material life and to wait to see the light shines with in. The soul is the vehicle of the spirit and the body is the vehicle of the soul. When, the individual self can unite with the eternal self there is liberation, the realization of the self, which is calm, serene and undisturbed. This is we call โ€˜Know thyselfโ€™. Our Vedanta speaks โ€œ Do you know that you know how do you know that you knowโ€ this the cycle between God and human soul.

What a wonderful trip. Nicely written, Janak and David. I’m still “riding the wave” of such a unique and blessed trip. Take care and see you soon back in Kolkata.
PS: Janak bhai, in reference to the “Haridwar People” and the “Rishikesh People”, I’d like to be classified in the “Devprayag People” club if that exists ๐Ÿ˜‰
