Before I begin, let it be known that I am not a photographer and certainly lack the equipment, training and artistic eye to truly capture the beauty of the things I have seen and am about to see. Thankfully, I have Pat joining me on my travels, who does have such a skill set. That being said, this post is a sort of test run for how the rest of our blog may unfold. Below are a few photos that Shreya captured when my family went to both Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks. After seeing tons of international travelers in both of these places, I realized that I had always taken our world-class California backyard for granted. I’ve been to both of these parks multiple times before, and for some reason I always resist going ‘again and again’ until I am actually there. Yet I am always awestruck by the unparalleled natural beauty and I find when I am surrounded by something so vast, ancient and expansive it gives me greater perspective/insights on my own small and short life (this is a good thing). If you have never been to either and are a resident of California, I highly recommend just getting in the car an doing it. The 6 hour drive from the south is completely worth it. In fact, I am still so thoroughly impressed with our state and country’s natural beauty that I have decided on another travel goal: John Muir trail some day.
